About Staff

Jo-Lynn Knapp RHN graduated from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition in 2007.  She is a professional trained in Natural Nutrition and complementary therapies, whose principal function is to educate individuals about the benefits and health impact of optimal nutrition.

Mainstream medicine does not emphasize the significance of poor nutrition as a major cause of a wide range of health disorders. Although most people are aware of the benefits of sound nutrition, the range of conflicting information available to the consumer is often confusing. Holistic nutritionists guide their clients through the maze of information from books, magazines, supplements and diets on the market. They work with clients to identify and help correct the nutritional causes of diseases, and they are qualified to design personalized diet and lifestyle programs that optimize health.

Melanie Schmaltz RMT, Doula

Massage Therapy

I have been a Massage Therapist for 9 years. I graduated from Mount Royal College in Calgary in 2003 and it has been a wonderful journey ever since. I believe firmly in balance in life - spiritually, mentally and physically. If we go through life with an imbalance in any of these areas we can not be healthy. I believe having a massage to be a wonderful place to help create balance in all of these areas. I always cater my massage to each individual client through the adjustment of pressure and through focus on areas of the body that need attention. I believe every treatment I give to be therapeutic because with massage every system of the body is affected. They are powerful. So whether it is a specific injury or your need for relaxation I can help you! In addition to my massage training I have trained specifically in Pre-natal Massage, Reiki, and am a infant massage instructor.

Doula: A Woman who Provides Continuous Support During Childbirth

Consistent, continuous reassurance, comfort, encouragement and respect.

In nearly every culture throughout history, women have been surrounded and cared for by other women during childbirth. My goal as a doula is to help the expectant mother have a safe and satisfying birth as the woman defines it. I provide physical and emotional support for the laboring mother as well as helping with research prior to labor so that a woman can make informed decisions.

Women cared for by a doula, compared to those receiving usual care were:
● 26% less likely to give birth by cesarean
● 41% less likely to give birth with a vacuum extractor or forceps
● 28% less likely to use analgesia or anesthesia
● 33% less likely to be dissatisfied or negatively rate their birth experience

I completed my Doula training from Mother Wellness in 2006 and have recently taken another amazing course through Doulas of North America (DONA). I am currently working on my DONA certification. Please contact me to discuss rates and watch for my upcoming website.
